Fishing Program

Private Lake Fishing

These private lakes offer serenity and plenty of big fish. Escape the crowds while fishing on the well-stocked East Greens Lake. It's a perfect place to unwind or practice that cast. East Greens Lake (rainbow trout) and West Greens Lake (brook trout) are available to all overnight guests and daily visitors. The lodge installed a fully accessible fishing pier on West Greens Lake to complement its existing nature trail and picnic sites. And while you don't need a state fishing license for this fishing, you do need a private Red Canyon Lodge Permit. When you're ready to book your trip we will provide information on fees and the strict catch and release regulations.

Accommodations

Custom-built, handcrafted log cabins are the perfect way to enjoy the peaceful lakeside setting of Red Canyon Lodge. It is a great escape from TVs and phones, and you won't find either in the cabins. All cabins have two beds in the bedroom, a separate living room, vaulted ceilings, Berber carpets, private baths and covered porches. Limited cooking facilities and mini-fridges are in every cabin. All units have outside picnic tables and a fire pit with a flip down grill. Red Canyon Lodge is a Pet Friendly lodging facility.

Select from two styles of lodging to fit your budget and needs. The large duplex Ponderosa cabins are perfect for families or fishing groups. The Alpine cabins are just right for couples or smaller groups.

Alpine Cabins

The Alpine Cabins are a great way to enjoy the wilderness. A private porch frames a view of the serene private lake. After a day fishing, biking or horseback riding, you will appreciate the charm of a night in one of these custom-built log cabins. Each Alpine Cabin Unit is 405 square feet.

Each cabin has a separate bedroom with two Full XL beds, living room with a variety of furniture including a pullout queen size futon coach, 3/4 bath and a private porch. Other amenities include a mini-fridge, 4 cup coffeemaker, microwave, hair dryer, specialty soaps & lotion.

Ponderosa Cabins

These premier cabins are duplex buildings with a lockout door between the spacious units. This means that one Ponderosa unit is renting only 1/2 of the duplex building. The square footage of the Ponderosa Cabin Unit is 572.

Each unit has a private bath, kitchenette, separate bedroom and living room, custom log furniture, a free-standing wood stove and a covered porch overlooking the private lake. Other amenities include a 4-cup coffeemaker, microwave, hair dryer, specialty soaps & lotions.

Ponderosa Kitchenette units allow the preparation of simple meals in your cabin.  Each unit has a 6.5 cu. ft. refrigerator with a small freezer area, a two burner electric range and a bar sink.  There is no oven, so plan accordingly for simple, stove-top meals.

Larger group? No problem! Rent both units, open the lockout door and enjoy one enormous cabin. Renting both units gives you a total of 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and 2 living rooms. Ponderosa cabins are available daily, every night of the year.

Dining

Enjoy the flavors of the West while dining amid some of the most stunning scenery in the country. Whether you choose the outdoor patio or the dining room, both provide a panoramic view of beautiful East Greens Lake amongst towering stands of ponderosa pine.

In the main season (June-September), the restaurant is open daily for lunch and dinner, with a staff famous for their prompt, friendly service. Of course, it really is the food that makes the restaurant such a popular spot with the locals.

The menu includes everything from good old-fashioned country meals to fine dining entrees. And for added variety, chefs prepare special entrees daily. If you decide to spend the day exploring Flaming Gorge Country, you can request a convenient box lunch.
